(Columbus, OH) Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., landslide winner of NBC’s hit television show America’s Got Talent, will perform for the first time in the Columbus area at the brand new Hollywood Casino this Sunday night April 28th. Landau will play an up-close and intimate gig with his jazz combo, showcasing classic tunes from the Great American Songbook and his top selling Columbia Records debut CD “That’s Life”. The free performance is part of the “o.h. Unplugged” concert series at Hollywood Casino, which is fast becoming a top Ohio entertainment destination.
Murphy, a native of Logan WV, had humble beginnings before scoring the top slot on America’s Got Talent in front of a record 14 million weekly viewers. The former small town auto detailer went from washing cars to Hollywood stars, winning the hearts of judges Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan, Howie Mandel and TV viewers everywhere as he made his way to the top with his smooth jazz vocals and humble, gracious character. After being crowned the winner of AGT’s sixth season in September 2011, Landau released his first album “That’s Life,” which went on to debut at #1 on the Billboard jazz charts and the top 40 overall. Not only did his unique singing style make him stand out from the competition, but Landau’s humility, charm and confidence endeared him to the AGT judges, viewers and audiences at his sold-out concert tour that launched in December of 2011 and continues to go on strong. Recent tour stops have included Harlem’s legendary Apollo Theatre, The California State Fair, Detroit’s DTE Energy Amphitheatre co-headlining with the legendary Temptations, the Hollywood Christmas Parade and a record 5 sold out nights at the 1900 seat Clay Center for the Performing Arts. TV and radio appearances have included The View, The Talk, The Anderson Cooper Show, The Wendy Williams Show, CNN Showbiz Tonight, The Today Show, Fox and Friends, The Tom Joyner Show and Sirius/XM Radio. Landau and the band also performed for U.S. troops overseas this past Veteran’s Day in conjunction with Armed Forces Entertainment.
Landau’s performance at Hollywood Casino is free and open to guests 21 and over. Landau will be available after the performance to meet attendees, pose for photographs, and sign autographs.
